Recently Watched: Altered Carbon, The Chef Show, Dracula

Altered Carbon Season 2 Summary in three words: It was ok Reaction: I knew nothing about Altered Carbon when I first watched season 1. I guess it is based on a book, and I may need to read that at some point. The first season was great, and had a very original Sci-Fi story. There was nudity, violence, mystery, and a philosophical/religious element. The second season isn’t bad, it was just more toned down in a lot of ways. All the qualities I described above about the first season seem less present in the second installment. Maybe this is another show Netflix … Continue reading Recently Watched: Altered Carbon, The Chef Show, Dracula

Blogging for one year today

This is just a short post to commemorate the one year anniversary of this blog. I can’t believe it has already been a year. I’m glad to be able to look back and see the different posts from the past year, and am excited to keep blogging. I had tried to start a blog in the past; I’m not sure why this time I was actually able to stick with it, but I’m glad I have. Can’t wait to see what happens over the next year. Thanks to everyone that reads, and thanks to the other bloggers. I’ve found some … Continue reading Blogging for one year today

Currently Reading: LEONARDO DA VINCI

Initial thoughts and why I’m reading it: At a dinner over the holiday, my family somehow got on the subject of the Mona Lisa. I was curious how the Mona Lisa had come to end up in France, not Italy. Later that night, I asked the all-knowing Google for answers. I discovered that the Mona Lisa had been with Leonardo when he died in France, and was later purchased by King Francis I of France from one of Leonardo’s assistants. During this quick googling session, I realized how little I knew about Leonardo Da Vinci. I knew he was a … Continue reading Currently Reading: LEONARDO DA VINCI

A Look Back: Great Expectations

I debated how to handle this post. I read this book fairly recently, but since I never had a chance to do a Currently Reading post, I decided against doing an In Conclusion post. The reason I read this book was two fold. First, I had just finished reading the second Horatio Hornblower, and really wanted to read the next one, but I was in Croatia, and the amount of books in English were limited. After going into several bookstores, and not finding any of the Horatio novels, I gave up hope. For a long time, my father has given … Continue reading A Look Back: Great Expectations

Berlin Marathon

I was obviously very excited about this race. I set it as a goal in September of 2018, and trained the entire year to prepare for it. This was the second marathon of the year for me and I decided to turn it into a larger vacation. I was disheartened that I was diagnosed with a lung infection the Wednesday before the race. I had a persistent cough that would not go away, and got worse when I ran. However, I was provided medication and hoped to be feeling better in time for the race. I arrived in Berlin on … Continue reading Berlin Marathon
