Summary in three words: Not risk averse

Reaction: I was not planning to see this film. I was actually going to see 1917, but it was already sold out. I had seen a trailer for Uncut Gems, and thought it looked interesting, but I probably would have waited to stream it if the other film wasn’t sold out. I thought there were a lot of great characters in this film. Adam Sandler does a great job as Howard Ratner, but there were a lot of strong performances all around. The film was shot uniquely; there were multiple scenes where the camera seemed to linger longer than is typical. This helped suck the audience into this high-stakes world, and made the characters feel more real. While I did think this movie was really well done, I’m not sure it’s for everyone. I probably will not watch this movie again; it doesn’t feel like one that I have to see more than once. However, I’m glad to see movies being made that aren’t sequels or reboots. I still hope to see 1917, but I’m glad I saw this movie instead.

Worth watching? Yes, as I mentioned above I don’t think it’s for everyone, but it is a good film.
